A brief introduction to the work of The Theosophical Fellowship

Pauli T. Pallesen, President

The Theosophical Fellowship has its roots in the theosophical tradition as begun by H. P. Blavatsky, H. S. Olcott, Annie Besant, C. W. Leadbeater and others in the latter part of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. As you may know, the term “theosophy” refers to Divine Wisdom.

In 1975, Ananda Tara Shan began her work for the Spiritual Hierarchy, the Inner Government of Earth. This work led to the founding of the Society for Maitreya Theosophy in 1991; The Theosophical Fellowship in 1994; and Heart Flow Worldwide in 2001.

Ananda Tara Shan is a mystic and teacher of theosophy, which she teaches in a practical way in order to help people develop spiritually in the Heart of Maitreya. She works to bring forth the Heart of Maitreya in Heart Flow teachings and in ceremonial work.

Ananda teaches keys to the wisdom of the heart, promoting the Way of the Heart through meditation, healing, world service and Heart Flow teachings. In support of this teaching, she has developed a meditation system, a healing system, ceremonial orders for world service and Heart Flow teachings for active people who wish to serve under the Heart of the Lord Maitreya. Many spiritual seekers have been inducted into a life of higher light through practising the teachings.

We consider the Lord Maitreya to be the inner director of The Theosophical Fellowship, for He inspired its foun-dation. The Lord Maitreya is the Head of the Spiritual Hierarchy, the Risen Christ (the Bodhisattva), the Heart of Earth and the Great Light Bringer whose Heart overflows with love and compassion for all living.

His inner guidance and unfailing loyalty towards humanity inspire us to transmit as best we can His Heart Light into all the activities of The Theosophical Fellowship. The Fellowship is taking an active part in Lord Maitreya’s global effort to bring balance to the Earth and humanity so that the Earth becomes a better place for all and so that humanity may learn to walk the middle path.

This the Lord Maitreya, the Avatar of the Heart, will eventually manage to bring about. In 1986, He aligned Himself with the Avatar of Synthesis; working together in the Aquarian Age, They have become Love and Will in action on the Earth.

Of the three organisational bodies established, each represents an aspect and acts as a focal point for different parts of the work. The Theosophical Fellowship is a focus for a universal brother/sisterhood. The key work for the Society for Maitreya Theosophy is the dissemination of the teachings relating to living a life where the heart and mind are in balance. Heart Flow Worldwide is a focus for people who work out of the goodness of their hearts, and a network of people who strive to live their life from the heart, based on the principles of goodness, beauty, fairness, creativity, unselfish service, freedom, and perseverance.

The primary emphasis in the cooperation with the Hierarchy over the years has been to help maintain world peace. Since 1975 Earth Healing Services have been conducted to contribute to the healing of the Earth and humanity. The healing work in Australia is carried out through the Church of the Resurrected Life, operated by The Theosophical Fellowship, and the Church of the Sacred Heart of Maitreya, operated by the Society for Maitreya Theosophy. Both churches are affiliated with the Associated Christian Spiritual Churches of Australia.

In the churches, ceremonial re-enactments of the holy mysteries are conducted to make the beauty of the mysteries real to all participants. In church services we speak with and act for God, the Logos, when we work ceremonially, for the ceremonies lift us to great heights of spiritual awareness where within our higher self we consciously cooperate with elevated beings, angels and Masters of the Wisdom. The ceremonies also act as tools for ascension.

As part of the healing work of The Theosophical Fellowship, groups of healers have formed in different parts of the world, mainly in Australasia and in Scandinavia, but the work is also starting in Canada and there are plans for work to start in Russia and in France over the next couple of years. Some of these groups have formed lodges and centres built upon the theosophical principles.

These healers or world servers consist of people from all walks of life, with ordinary jobs, but they strive to bring an awareness of the inner existence of life into their daily life, without dogma or a preaching attitude. Through meditation and the study of theosophy in all its aspects, be it philosophical, religious, psychological or scientific, each server strives to apply the principles of positive living for the benefit of the good of all.

Apart from striving to apply these principles to daily living, each member of a group (or he or she may also work by him/herself) commits to doing regular meditation work where the emphasis is on healing of the Earth sphere as well as participating in sending healing into the collective consciousness of the human family, into those thoughts and feelings that need healing, of which there are many.

Over the years, Ananda Tara Shan has written an extensive manual of guidance for healing services and church services that, via their format, provide an opening to and a channel for the energies behind such writings as given out by H. P. Blavatsky, A. A. Bailey, and Helena Roerich.

The Fellowship’s comprehensive healing and meditation systems, written by Ananda Tara Shan with some of the Masters from the Spiritual Hierarchy, are suited for the occidental mind and body. These systems and techniques are used by students in several countries, students who have a sincere interest in participating in Earth healing work. In this context I may mention that one of our newest projects is the coordination of a 24-hour vigil for world peace with participants worldwide.

The Theosophical Fellowship also conducts schools and workshops on different subjects to help any person of goodwill who seeks the knowledge of bettering his or her life. All activities are free of charge, except for some educational activities where a small administration fee is asked for.

The Fellowship is universal in its philosophy and way of working in the sense that anyone can come and participate, bringing their own belief system, their teacher or philosophy into the work. Likewise, the level of commitment or of non-commitment is of course also up to the individual. We have members who are practising Jews, Buddhists, and Christians, as well as some who draw from the Aboriginal, Native American and Islamic traditions in their practice.

In Australia, the Fellowship has lovely facilities in Melbourne and Daylesford for which we are very grateful. These facilities are used for meditations and healing services, energy work as we also refer to it, as well as for teaching. The facilities are dedicated as shrines to the furthering of peace, and we hope and believe that they have an impact on their environment, alongside other shrines. We hope as well that people can come here, as some come now, from all over the world and find hope, comfort, healing and inspiration to pursue their path in life, without having to worry about money or having to feel pushed into any kind of affiliation or belief system.

It is the aim of the Fellowship to create an environment where the individual visitor or participant, in the stillness of his/her own heart, can seek the answers to the questions about his or her life.

We have a good professional staff, who, in addition to their professional employment, offer their skills as part of their world service to the running of The Theosophical Fellowship. They do this work as volunteers because, it is my impression, they believe in doing service together with other individuals, groups and organisations in all different areas around the globe who also work for the benefit of this world we all share.

I believe that we – all such individuals, groups and organisations – help each other and the world by staying open to the fact that all of us have our part to do and should respect that. What one is doing is no better than what another is doing. Through such an outlook I believe that we can see the positive things around us more clearly, and many opportunities of creative, beneficial, joyous and successful work open up to us.

The Fellowship operates almost entirely by donations and offers its teaching free of tuition charge. As such, contributions given freely from the heart are most gratefully received.

I hope that what I have written has answered some of your questions about The Theosophical Fellowship. If you feel that you would like more information, please do not hesitate to contact me. You are also most welcome to visit our facilities.

      With kind regards,
      Pauli T. Pallesen

The Maitreya Sangha

There is a spiritual community on Earth composed of souls who on the physical plane belong to a varied spectrum of origins and groups, but who on the inner are motivated by the same purpose and goal – that of preserving the Earth for the coming generations. These people seek to know more about the Divine Wisdom so they can be part of creating the Way of the Heart with the Lord Maitreya, the Bodhisattva and Risen Christ.

The members of this community, the Maitreya Sangha, are the practical mystics, the intellects who are nourished by the heart, those who deal with others in fairness and justice. They are the ones who will do anything, as long as it is based on the principles of good, to lead humanity towards a new world built upon the Laws of the Heart. They are found in all walks of life, and their desire to live a higher life makes them co-creators with great Beings of Light, as they bring forth from their own inner a deep sense of responsibility and caring attitudes for all life on the planet.
